OFF-SITE (HOME VISIT) PIANO LESSONSBPM follows the same policies, guidelines, and instructions as set out for on-site lessons. BPM requirements for home lessons include: i.) A piano or keyboard (keyboards must have 88 weighted keys); ii.) A footstool for younger students whose feet do not touch the floor; iii.) A bench pad or seat cushion to achieve proper height at the piano keys, if necessary; and iv.) A desk or sitting area with table to do theory work. BPM will bring the appropriate supplies for teaching during a home visit, and for those students who are registering for or transitioning to home visits, please ensure that the home piano or keyboard is in good working order, in tune, and preferably in a location where there is minimal traffic and/or distractions.

LOCATION & PARKINGBETH'S PIANO in MOTION (“BPM”) is located in picturesque East York, Ontario (Coxwell Ave. & O'Connor Drive) next to Cullen Bryant Park, which overlooks and provides access to the beautiful ravine of Taylor Creek. There is street parking available with the standard three (3) hour limit. BPM expects that a parking space or area will be available for use during a home visit. For any parking restrictions, arrangements, or instructions, please notify BPM in advance of lessons to ensure there will be no loss of lesson time, as BPM must abide by the student schedule and have ample time to travel.
-
HOW DOES THE SCHEDULE RUN FOR BPM STUDENTS?Unlike most piano studios, BPM ensures the benefit of the entire lesson time for each student, which means arriving and preparing to leave does not take place within a student's lesson time. BPM makes every effort to avoid schedule changes, but reserves the right to do so when necessary. If the student's lesson time must be changed to a different day, or require a change to the lesson time, BPM will do its best to work with the student/parent(s) to find a solution that works for everyone.

CANCELLATIONS AND MAKE-UP LESSONSBPM permits one (1) cancelled lesson without charge in a six-month period from the time the student begins lessons. Please provide at least 48 hours email notice to cancel a lesson, absent emergency circumstances. If there are repeated occurrences of cancellations, BPM may need to discontinue lessons. No-shows (or no-homes re home visits) without advance cancellation notice will require payment at all times. BPM, if possible, may offer a make-up lesson and inform the student, but BPM is not required to make up the missed lesson. After the first cancellation within a six-month period, BPM requires payment for a missed lesson. For permanent cancellation of lessons, BPM requires four (4) weeks notice. If the student wishes to cancel temporarily, please note that BPM cannot reserve the student’s day and time and cannot guarantee that a space will be available in future. There may be occasions where BPM must cancel a lesson. BPM will provide as much notice as possible, by phone and/or email. BPM will do its best to reschedule the lesson at a time that is available for both BPH and the student. In the event that BPM cancels a lesson and a make-up lesson does not take place, payment will not be required for that lesson.
-
PAYMENT POLICIESBPM accepts payment preferably by electronic transfer, to beth.pianoteacher@gmail.com. If needed, other payment arrangements can be made. All payments are to be made before or at the time of the lesson. Receipts are available upon request.
-
WHEN DOES BPM CHARGE FOR LESSONS?Unlike most piano studios, BPM does not require lesson payments in advance. BPM operates on a pay-as-you-go basis! With rising costs of everything today, this is a convenient and economical way for students/families to enjoy musical learning without having to worry about advance payments.

It is desirable for students to wear socks inside the piano area, for sanitary use with the piano pedals. Due to student and teacher allergies, please refrain from wearing any heavy fragrances during lesson times.
