About Me

Child Playing the Piano
My name is Beth Simone, and if your musical curiosity brought you this far, then I'm pleased to take a few moments to share with you a little about me and my musical journey! My teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in my personal journey with piano and the transformative role it has played in my life. As a mother, caregiver, teacher, advocate, and individual who cares deeply about the human condition, I understand the value of a supportive, patient, and fun environment in learning and self-expression. I have been playing the piano for over 40 years.  The instrument quickly became an indispensable companion throughout my life. It served as my teacher, consoler, friend, soulmate, and confidante. It allowed me to share my secrets without judgment, raise me up in times of sadness, comfort me in times of struggle, and celebrate me in times of achievement.  Unbeknownst to me the piano many times allowed me to conquer challenges while cultivating my passion for music. During the brief periods in my life when I was not playing the piano, it reminded me deeply its value and what I was missing.

For the majority of my piano education, I studied the curriculum through the Royal Conservatory of Music. I was blessed to have some wonderful teachers and mentors, including Vera Leinvebers, a world renowned pianist, author, and music educator. After completing my classical piano education, I began to delve into and add to my repertoire many different musical genres, such as Blues, Pop, Ragtime, and good old Rock and Roll! I discovered that my foundation in classical music helped me to grasp other music styles very effectively. I went on to teach piano in the school-setting through the Canadian Bureau for the Advancement of Music. This experience helped me to grow as a music educator and develop my teaching skills in a classroom setting. After this, I taught private lessons, which helped me to focus on the student as an individual. I’ve had the benefit of working within the Elementary Teachers Certification Program through the Royal Conservatory of Music, so that I may be able to polish and bring out the best of my years of experience.

It is this profound love for the piano and its capacity to uplift the spirit that fuels my desire to teach. When it comes to the young mind ready to embark upon a musical path of learning for the first time, I am captivated by their open minds, much like a blank canvas, ready to absorb the wonders of music without any preconceived notions. Witnessing the joy and excitement in their eyes as they explore the world of music is extremely fulfilling.I am committed to encouraging my students to explore and develop their talents and confidence through learning the piano. I firmly believe that embracing different genres in music will enable my students to broaden their understanding and appreciation of music. By tapping into their emotions and expression, I can help them to find out more of who they are through the piano. My students dive into a musical world of diversity where they can experience technique, expression, and creativity, and ultimately make each piece their own.  All of my students are taught with the proper piano foundation, which includes theory, technique, and ear-training work.

I create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive musical space, for all who want to learn, with or without limitations, that encourages artistic growth and personal development through learning techniques that are tailored specific to my students’ individual needs. By fostering consistency and including all the elements of learning the piano in an upbeat and entertaining environment, I ensure that my students not only are achieving their musical goals but are made to feel appreciated and accomplished.Every person has musical potential and a special gift to contribute to learning, and my goal is to foster these to help make learning the piano exciting, engaging, fun, and fulfilling.
